My Fitness Journey
Born and raised in two of the best cities in the world - Los Angeles, California and Seattle, Washington - from as far back as I remember, sports were a part of my life. As a young boy I rarely had a spare moment where there was not some type of ball with me. Basketball has always been my favorite. In middle school I shared my dream with my AAU Coach, “I want to play college basketball.” He said, “Campbell, do these two things every morning when you awake, and you might have a chance.” For the next 9 years I started every day with 1,000 jump ropes and 10 minutes of ball-handling. Hence, this was the start of my personal training career. Throughout high school and college, all my teammates asked to train with me. They wanted to know the secrets to my continued growth and success. Years later my dream came true to play college basketball for two years.
Triathlons
When my college basketball career ended, I dove head first into triathlons. This sport was a perfect fit for enjoying the warm weather of southern California while challenging my training itch in a different way. As my fitness career expanded, I began to explore other avenues of sports. Upon moving to Portland, Oregon I discovered the beauty of outdoor hiking. In 2008, I captured the world record for the Stepmill, which has always been my favorite cardio machine.
Crossfit
Recently the world of CrossFit has captivated me. It provides extremely intense workouts, great community and consistent goal-setting accomplishments. At 57 years old, CrossFit has pushed my body to different limits and I am now a regular CrossFit competitor. Currently, my health and fitness is the best it has been in 30 years. My body weight is 188 pounds, body fat 7% and my metabolic stats are all excellent. However, I will continue to push my body to greater challenges.
